New NG song! Lost Woods Rock Remix!

August 14, 2008

Listen here

Sorry but this song is a victim of The Loudness War too. You’ll just have to deal with it. It’s an alternative rock version of the Twilight Princess Lost Woods theme. The sweeping pad-like guitar sound was made using a spectrum equalizer. Also lots of dynamic dub delay for the lead guitars. And I stress dynamic.

Drum Kit Specs:
Bass – RL model 2 (mute) with MIDI enhanced bass
Snare – Tama Ambassador and Ludwig Alluminum hybrid
Hats – Titey
Toms – Tama StarClassic
Ride – Zildjian
Crash – Gretch and Zildjian hybrid

Other Specs
Bass – BooBass
Rythym Guitars – Sytrus, with Spectromatic panning and custom l0vE Philter (using EQ 2 hybrid)
Lead Guitars – Slayer, using dub delay and FL Stereo Enhancer technology.

Original Composition: Koji Kondo (Composed just about all the music for the Legend of Zelda games)
Remix: DmNt

My Newgrounds Music Part 2

August 13, 2008

Part 2 covers all my original songs. Yay for not having as many because composing requires real effort! Actually wait, I have just as many — SEE I’M NOT LAZY.

Electric Rain – This is a weird little electronica song. Does it flow? Not really. But hey, it has some cool sounds in it! I should have spent more time on it. If you want to destroy your speakers, and your ears, listen to those crazy bass parts over and over again at full blast.

Electro Magnetism – I liked this one a lot! But I lost the project file for it… NO! That’s okay though, I could do better now with my eyes closed. [/arrogance]

Reines Vergnugen Musik – Can you say Avant Gard-ey? This was a highly experimental song. It sounds pretty weird, but it’s still decent. The name means “really good music” in German. The glockenspiel at the end of the song inspired the name. No one apparently figured out the name. Let alone reviewed it…

Industry of Turmoil – Pretty cool eh? This song was the started out as a catchy beat I made right around Christmas time, when I was showing a friend the wonders of FL Studio (you know who you are). Now look at it. It’s the same beat repeated a billion times with effects and tempo changes over it! Still a cool song. My first major attempt at panning.

I’ll see you at the 4 – My first attempt at a rock song. Not bad I’d say for a song that is made entirely by electronics. This is song was made after I was messing around on my new keyboard. The name was inspired from a certain certain website that is not to be named.

Digging for the Atomic Red – My second attempt at a rock song. This one is very pattern based, too much even for rock. Goes all brassy at the end to keep things interesting. I got the drums right here a lot better than last time. The name was inspired by Communism. Those hats at the end sound so stupid…

Where the Green Grows – I’m gonna have a song named after every color on the rainbow. IT WILL HAPPEN YOU’LL SEE. Anyways. I love acoustic instruments, they sounds so much more pure than electric instruments do. But I also love the neophile sound that those electric instruments have…I guess I love both, lol. I like this one a lot. Should have had some sort of percussion in it though.

The Great Schism – The beat was inspired by the Muse song “Supermassive Blackhole.” Unfortunately, this song was mixed pretty badly and was just not very good. I’ll try harder next time!

Blue Fire – MY CONQUEST OF NAMING SONGS AFTER COLORS OF THE RAINBOW IS PROGRESSING WELL. That being said, this is known as reggae, a love or hate music genre. To keep things moving I made it a little more dance based too. I like this one! Why doesn’t the score agree? Well, no matter. We all have our different tastes.

Okay! Now that this is out of the way, I’ll be posting my songs that never made it to Newgrounds!!

My Newgrounds Music Part 1

August 13, 2008

This post will cover my Newgrounds songs in a greater detail than I did at the site, amongst other things. Part 1 covers my video game remasterings.

Chrono Trigger

Jet Bike Race Theme – Some prog rock goodness. More like badness. This was my first song… ever. As you can see, I clearly had no idea what I was doing. At all. I will… “re-remaster” this song. I guarantee it. God, you can’t even hear the snare, and the drums were mixed so poorly, and bass needed better tuning and oh God kill me now…

Gato’s Theme – A rather hip-hop version of the song, no? It sounds good other than the trumpet, that sounds awful. It’s also way too short, but that’s the nature of the song. Maybe I should actually try remixing these songs, huh?

Chrono’s Theme – A full orchestra. Woot. With over 1,500 listens, over 150 individual downloads, and an average score of 4 out of 5, I think it’s safe to say that this is my most popular submission on Newgrounds. I have continually upgraded this one as I get better at music creation.

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie

Freezeeasy PeakOh God. This one was pretty bad too. Okay, maybe not THAT BAD…but still… This is was my first major endeavor in the world of synthesizers… Not promising early on as you can see. And listen to that ride cymbal? How the hell did I not notice “din din din din din din din” repeated over and over again?

Quiet Interior (Grunty Industries) – Even this one is starting to show its age. This was one of my best works for a while. Still stands well now. I can play this one on the piano. (At a much faster tempo, mind you).

Engine Room (Rusty Bucket Bay) – This is my latest recreation. As you can see, I’ve come a long way in a year huh? This particular song makes great use of panning. Something that makes or breaks a song in my opinion (more on that later).

Other Video Game Works

Gerudo Valley (Techno Remix) – Fucking terrible. I hate how this one gets praised so much. It sucks ass in my book. Horribly mixed and just some cool synths at heavy reverb and faster tempo. Why the hell did I ever upload this one? Anyways, I can play this song on the piano too.

Gerudo Desert Keep in mind this is from Twilight Princess. Man, this one was pretty good except for that stupid shaker. “chi chi chi chi chi chi” Jeez! So annoying!

Brinstar Theme (Metroid) – Well, as you can see, I was getting better at synthes! I made this one shortly after I did the Freezeasy Peak song. It is okay, not bad for some early works I did.

Stay tuned for Part 2!
